Lamps

Korry and I have never had a nice bedroom before.  Our new rental home is so amazingly beautiful and ready to be decorated, they only problem is, decorating really isn't my thing.  Also, it happens to be VERY expensive to decorate a house.  But thanks to Pinterest and my love for all things crafty, I've been busy making my home amazing and doing it for cheaper than normal.  Here's my latest...
While casually walking through the junk/clearance isle at Walmart I found these super ugly lamps.  Believe it or not, I've been waiting to find some really ugly lamps so that I could try out a technique I saw on pinterest.  Wht was the technique you ask?  Simple, paint old school ugly lamps a fun modern color and they take on a whole new life.  So when I saw these for $4 a piece I couldn't pass up the opportunity.  Plus, Korry and I don't have lamps so this is great.

BEFORE:
(It's really UGLY eh?  Mostly because of the nasty gold color)

AFTER:
I think it turned out pretty dang amazing!  I'm in love!
And it only cost around $12 to buy the lamps and paint.
Now, I will be in search of some tiny cheap shades for them.

This is the color I used.  It's True Turquoise by Glidden.
You can buy these 2 oz testers for $3.
I haven't painted lamp #2 yet but it should be enough for both of my lamps!

Nursing cover straps

I am a big prude when it comes to showing off my girl parts.  In fact, it is one of my pet peaves when women refuse to cover up while nursing when they are around other people.  When I found out I was pregnant, I immediately joined the in crowd and purchased a nursing cover but then I found these great inventions on pinterest, I love them even more than a cover.  These really are much better because they turn ANY blanket into a nursing cover with ease.  They took mere minutes to sew together as well.  Plus, the material I found was super cute.

You just clip that handy end onto your blanket and
wrap around the back of your neck and your ready to go...
Want to make your own?  Here's a link to the tutorial I used...

I also found a pattern very similar for making a binky holder.  I just did the same thing as above on one end and then sewed velcro to the other to make this handy dandy binky strap.  Now I just need to make a baby that likes binkies, because the other two sure didn't.
